- UV sun light that breaks the molecules of the lignin of wood producing the paint film peeling off
- Blue fungi feed by the lignin under the film of paint and this causes a detach (they are also responsible for the “greying” of the wood exposed to the exterior)
- High temperature causing the vitrification of the paint which, becoming more rigid, can be easily detached (a shutter or window frames hit by the summer light can easily reach 60 °C)
